About The Author
Heather has dedicated her life to working with children with learning disabilities. She has worked for over 25 years with children with learning disabilities and wanted to empower students to effectively interact and create ever-lasting peer bonds that would help change the way children are taught with disabilities and/or how they are engaged within the classroom. Believe it or not, in this day and age, the learning disabled still do not receive the proper attention in many classrooms across America. She discovered some key components that reoccur in classrooms and felt these components had to be shared with everyone in America. Through her years of experience, she has recognized some of the main factors in helping students successfully integrate in and out of the classroom. Auggie Autistic is intended to show children how other children with disabilities are affected by a learning disability and encourages everyone to interact with an understanding of Autism. In addition to Auggie Autistic, she created the Knowing How to Deal Series, a teaching tool teacher needs at their fingertips. That explains a multitude of disabilities and a series of children's books to follow such as Donnie Downs and Patty Pica. With Auggie Autistic, we express that special education is not a one-size-fits-all solution. Everyone is an individual and we must adjust to the individual learning needs of each student. That's why we offer a range of services tailored to meet the unique needs of each student we work with. Our team of experts includes special education teachers, behavior analysts, and speech therapists, all passionate about supporting students with diverse learning needs. We are dedicated to helping students thrive in their academic and personal lives. We take a collaborative and evidence-based approach to special education, working closely with families and educators to develop the key factors explained in each book. We use a variety of strategies and techniques to support learning and promote positive behavior. We are constantly evaluating and changing our methods to ensure we're providing the most effective support possible.
